BuhoSleep is a tray-only Windows utility that keeps your PC awake — the right way. No mouse jiggling, no hacks: it uses the official Windows power API (SetThreadExecutionState) to prevent sleep with zero CPU overhead.
Modes
- Keep Screen On — screen and system stay on (demos, video calls, reading).
- Keep PC Awake — the system stays on, the display may sleep (downloads, builds, AI inference).
- Power Saver — switches to the energy-saving power plan.
- High Performance — maximum power for compilations and gaming.
- Auto — adapts on its own: plugged in Balanced, on battery Power Saver.
Timer and tray
Set a session timer — 30 minutes, 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours, or until the end of the day — and forget about it. BuhoSleep sits quietly in the system tray, the owl icon showing the active mode at a glance, and Windows power plans are one click away. Global hotkeys switch modes without opening the menu.
Automation
Triggers are rules that turn a mode on when a given app is running, CPU load is high, the battery drops below a threshold, you plug in the power adapter, or on a weekly schedule. Plus Drive Alive to keep external drives from spinning down, session statistics with CSV export, and global hotkeys. Every feature is free — no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.
Crash-safe: if the app or the system shuts down unexpectedly, BuhoSleep restores your original power plan on the next launch. Runs on Windows 10 and 11, x64 and ARM64, with near-zero CPU usage and a native Fluent interface built on WinUI 3.
Want a portable build? Buho is BuhoSleep's little brother: the same owl in the tray, five modes and a timer, a single exe with no installer and its settings in a file next to it. Download it from the Portable section on buhosleep.com.
